Multiple avenues, one mission.
Pam Roy is a writer, filmmaker, investor, and philanthropist dedicated to mental health advocacy, education transformation, and meaning-oriented philosophy. Through her work with the Viktor Frankl Institute of America, films, initiatives, and books, she helps individuals and communities find purpose and connection.
Her passion for parenting, community interconnectedness, and educational transformation is inspired by her three daughters, now young adults. What started as a parenting blog (pamroyblog.com) evolved into co-founding several organizations and initiatives. She is the co-founder of B-Unbound (an initiative with Big Picture Learning that connects youth with community-based adults who share their interests) and Straight Up Impact (a women-owned production company at the intersection of film and social impact).
Recognizing the key role meaning plays in mental health, Pam co-founded the Viktor E. Frankl Institute of America with Frankl’s grandson, Alexander Vesely-Frankl, and Moira Hummel. It provides resources related to meaning-oriented theory and philosophy. To reach modern audiences, she co-authored The Inspiring Wisdom of Viktor Frankl: A 21-Day Reflection Book About Meaning with Moira Hummel and developed a course with Alexander called Viktor Frankl’s Logotherapy: The Discovery of Meaning (offered on the website and Udemy). In August 2025, Beacon Press is publishing a new version of Inspiring Wisdom called Viktor E. Frankl and The Search for Meaning: 21 Reflections on Living Life with Purpose. Pam is also an executive producer of the forthcoming feature film adapted from the international best-selling book Man’s Search for Meaning and several other films that provide hope and inspiration to humanity.
In addition, Pam is the author of Parenting From The Passenger Seat: How Our Children Develop Capabilities, Connections and Meaningful Lives, supporting parents in helping children to navigate their own way through life. She is an executive producer of The Friendship Bench documentary with SeaLion Films based on Dr. Dixon Chibanda’s evidence-based program that trains grandmothers to treat depression. She is working on a feature-length version of this inspiring story and is an advisor to Dr. Chibanda on expanding the reach of friendship benches. Lastly, Pam is co-owner of Vaca Restaurant with Ahmed Labbate and Chef Amar Santana.
